My boss just saw me walking down the hall carrying my lunch, a piece of vegetable lasagna. She said “that’s a slab and a half” and I replied something like “yeah, it’s spinach lasagna”. To which she replied “lunch AND dinner, I hope, judging by the size of it”.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck off.

Student: So I’m enrolling in the course on violence, imaginaries and symbolic power?
Me: Yes?
Student: I noticed that last year, Kiran was teaching the course, but this year it says someone called Dinesh is teaching it.
Me: That’s correct. Kiran is taking up a research position this semester and won’t be teaching.
Student: I tried looking for background information but...

What does a queer woman with no hair wear to a traditional Lebanese wedding? This is actually making me legitimately anxious. There will be big big hair, big big make up, and I feel like I’m going to look like the bride’s unfortunate bald best friend who wears jeans. The guest list tops something in the range of 700 people. The house is sold, James has moved into my tiny apartment. We’ve sold or given away everything except the bare bones, and now we’re in a holding period, waiting to hear about Canada. There’s a job in Toronto for James - they’ve indicated they want him, and asked if he could hypothetically start in 6 weeks. Now they’re “putting together a case to hire”, and...

Sometimes, intimacy is talking in bed about strategies for successful cropdusting of despised coworkers.
“Good cropdusting is all about hiding in plain sight.”
“Very true.”

milkeemountainmama: i been wondering this forever.
flint has just as many beat up run down decaying houses that detroit does. in fact, flint has had many of the same proposals surrounding it to “deal” with blight that detroit has—downsizing, 1$ houses, etc.
and yet—when it comes to the whole “zomg i luuuurv abandoned houses!”—the narrative focuses almost exclusively on Detroit. the “once great...
“Anyways I keep thinking I’m over wanting that approval and sometimes I feel hopeful but it’s late and attachment is so complicated. This is also the story of my privilege, Adrienne Rich talks about the same thing when she says, “we have liked to think of ourselves as special, and we have known that men would tolerate, even romanticize us as special”. There may be ways in, there are...
